Borussia Dortmund confirm Sebastian Kehl has extended his contract until the summer of 2027.
Sebastian Kehl has thanked the club’s management for their trust after Borussia Dortmund extended his contract as sporting director by two more years until the summer of 2027,reported on Thursday.
Kehl returned to Borussia Dortmund in April 2018 to take up the role of head of professional football at the club, before stepping up to take over as sporting director from Michael Zorc in the summer of 2021. Prior to becoming sporting director, Kehl was head of the club’s professional player department for four years.
Since he has been in the role, Dortmund have finished in second and fifth place across two seasons in the Bundesliga and made it to the Champions League final last season in which they lost against Real Madrid.
“I feel a strong connection with Borussia Dortmund and I am very happy to continue working for this great club,” Kehl, 44, said after signing the new contract.
